

Don Heymann
Writer/Communications Strategist
Don Heymann brings more than three decades of communications experience as a writer, editor, consultant, corporate leader, and agency executive. Throughout his career, he has led public relations and marketing teams, advised senior executives, and delivered clear, effective growth strategies for organizations.
As an independent writer, editor and content strategist, he has worked with a broad range of clients – including Pfizer, PepsiCo, Airbus, Unilever, GE, The New York Academy of Sciences, and the NYU Cancer Institute – developing everything from annual and sustainability reports and websites to executive speeches and feature articles, editorials, and press materials.
Don has developed environmental and climate-focused communications for a variety of clients, including midstream energy companies involved with natural gas and water procurement; freshwater stewardship reports (The Nature Conservancy); and an environmental/climate-focused magazine for the Association of California Water Agencies. Range of subjects covered: supply chain challenges, sustainable infrastructure investment, wind-turbine development, landfill contamination, and ecotourism.
Earlier, he served in senior corporate communications roles at three Fortune 500 companies—GAF Corporation, Lone Star Industries, and Chesebrough-Pond’s Inc. (now Unilever Personal Care). He also worked as an account supervisor at Burson-Marsteller, one of the world’s largest public relations agencies, where he developed and managed impactful PR and marketing communications programs across a wide range of industries.
With a solid foundation as a writer and editor, Don served as an adjunct faculty member at NYU’s School of Professional Studies, where he taught the course “Strategic and Marketing Communications Writing.” He now conducts Effective Writing Workshops for individuals and professional groups in a range of industries.
Elected to Phi Beta Kappa, he is a summa cum laude graduate of Ohio University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English/Creative Writing.
